2026-27 RRA Travel Teams

Scope & Definitions

  • Double‑carded Travel Team – athletes are rostered on their regular RRA club team and a travel team.
  • Single‑carded Travel Team – athletes are rostered only on the travel team for the applicable season(s).
  • Loop/Division Placement – the tier/loop where a team competes during league play or inter‑association scheduling.

Example Travel Team Models & Guardrails

  • Double‑Carded Teams
    • Club team commitments (games and scheduled practices) take priority September through March. Travel teams must not enter tournaments or games that conflict with their players’ league games. Practice conflicts require written approval from the league Head Coach and Division Commissioner for the athlete to attend the travel team practice.
    • Best suited for single‑season, experience‑focused opportunities (e.g., 1–2 tournaments, specialized training blocks).
  • Single‑Carded Teams (Developmental)
    • Default term – one season; renewals require reapplication annually.
      • Two‑year proposals may be considered only for same‑birth‑year cohorts (no mixed‑age rosters) and require:clear, development first plan;
      • looping that avoids disadvantages to drafted B teams;
      • committee supermajority approval; and
      • mid‑term check‑in with authority to revoke year‑two approval if conditions aren’t met.
    • Mixed‑age single‑carded teams may be approved for one season only given the added safety, placement, and fairness risks identified; they are not eligible for two‑year approval.
